19th March 2021
Today, Winterbourne House Captains have led a wonderful Red Nose Day filled with fun and laughter to raise money for Comic Relief. The House Captains have set missions for children to undertake with their class which has proved to be great fun. Photos of today’s missions will be posted on our school blog on our website.
Elder Class – PE and Forest School Next Week
Next week Elder Class will have PE on Tuesday (rather than the normal Wednesday) as a one off and Friday 26th March will be a full day of Forest School rather than the normal afternoon.
Rowan and Oak Class – Everest Talk
On Wednesday 24th March Simon Knighton (our previous Chair of Governors) will be talking with Rowan and Oak Class about climbing Everest as part of their extreme climate topic. We are thrilled that Simon is able to share with the children his real life experience.
Braeside Education Centre
Braeside Education Centre, Devizes provides a range of courses for primary school children. Their Spring/Summer programme has just been released. The courses are designed to allow students to benefit from extra-curricular opportunities to explore and develop areas of ability. They focus on challenges for Years 2 to 6 pupils in maths, writing, and science.
Bookings need to be made direct with the Centre, and school needs to sign the booking forms to ensure the course is suitable for your child. More information can be found on their website where you can also download booking forms. Alternatively we have booking forms in school. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact Miss Mearns.
Message from the PTA – Fundraising & PTA Meeting
The PTA would like to thank everyone who has been so generous in supporting the school this year. It has been a spectacularly difficult year for everybody and we are so keen to protect and nurture our children as much as we can. To that end, Forest School is a wonderful experience for the children to explore, enjoy and learn in and we are so keen to achieve our goal of making a building that will enhance this environment. We are only 25% off our target to achieve this – if you feel able to donate, or if you know anyone else who might feel able to donate to our school then please spread the word far and wide. If you go online to www.rocketfund.org/forest-school-for-wellbeing you can donate there. Please see the poster for any more information. Thank you so much!
Also, there will be a PTA meeting online next Thurs 25th – we would LOVE to see you whether you’ve been before or if you’ve no idea of what’s involved. Come along at 7.30pm by clicking on the link in the school diary / this link:

Message from St Michael’s Church – Easter Walking Treasure Hunt
Please find attached details of the Easter Walking Treasure Hunt around the Green and the Pond.
Message from Wiltshire Council – Easter Holiday Camps
Wiltshire Council have worked with local childminders and activity providers to create a childcare directory for use by critical workers during the upcoming Easter holidays. The directory has been shared with health partners initially to ensure Wiltshire residents working directly to support the COVID-19 response have access to childcare provision. There is a charge for all provision detailed in the directory.
This information will also be available to any parents looking for paid-for childcare during the Easter holidays who require this. Parents are asked to email schoolholidayprovision@wiltshire.gov.uk for details of providers in their area.
