St. Michael’s Weekly Post – 19th June 2020

19th June 2020

Dear Parents,

Thank you all for your ongoing support during this difficult and unprecedented time. It has been wonderful to, once again, have the sound of happy voices throughout St. Michael’s. However, the staff team feel extremely disappointed that current guidelines mean that we are not able to provide school places for the vast majority of children in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 – something we wish we could change.

As a result, we will be making some changes to the end of term that will enable us to invite all children in these year groups back for a full day, before the summer break, to see their teachers and classmates, as well as having the chance to meet their teachers for next year.

Below is the structure for the final week of this term.

Thursday 16th July Year 6 last day.

This will include a celebration of their time at school – we are hoping to be able to invite parents (depending on social distancing guidance at this time) – more details to follow.

Friday 17th July Last day for all children currently in school. Pick up times:

·         Hazel and Holly – 11.45am

·         Beech and Birch – 12pm

·         Oak and Rowan– 12.15pm

·         Elm – 12.30pm

Monday 20th July School is open for all children in:

·         Year 2

·         Year 5

Further details of arrival and collection time will follow at a later date

Children will not be expected to wear school uniform on these days.

Tuesday 21st July School is open for all children in:

·         Year 3

·         Year 4

Further details of arrival and collection time will follow at a later date

Children will not be expected to wear school uniform on these days.

Wednesday 22nd July School Closed – Staff Training

Closer to the time we will be sending out further details about the days in school for Years 2, 3, 4 and 5, including the measures that we will be putting in place to ensure that school is safe and that we are following the Government guidelines.

Throughout this process, there have been no easy decisions. It has been wonderful to be able to welcome back children in other year groups, as well as continuing to provide spaces for our Key Worker families. We are really excited, as this plan will enable us to welcome back every child in the St. Michael’s family (even if only for a short time) before the summer break.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch should you have any questions.

Keep healthy and stay safe.
