12th March 2021
It has been a wonderful first week back in school and it has been so special to see our St Michael’s family back together. It is a pleasure to see so many happy children eager to learn. School has been full of laughter and friendship.
Teacher Development Day
Friday 25th June will now be a TD day and no children will be in school, this is following the postponement of the TD day back in February. As a reminder, Monday the 28th June is also a TD day so we hope you can enjoy the long weekend.
Comic Relief/ Red Nose Day – 19th March
Next Friday is Red Nose Day and House Captains have planned a fun day to raise money for Comic Relief. On the day children will come to school in non-uniform with ‘A splash of red for comic relief’ – this could be a single red sock or lots of red! They would like children to pay a £2 minimum donation on ParentPay (for those who can’t access this, they can bring in the money). During the day children will have a number of missions to undertake in their classes.
Rowan and Oak Classes walk – Wednesday 17th March
This term, Rowan and Oak Classes are exploring Extreme Environments and in particular, we are thinking about mountains over the next few weeks. Although not quite a mountain, on Wednesday 17th March, Rowan and Oak classes will be walking to the highest point in our local area – just outside Baydon – to take measurements such as temperature and wind speed ready to make comparisons with an extreme environment like Mount Everest.
Each class will be out on their walk between 11:30 and 2:30 so they will arrive and leave school at the normal times. In line with COVID guidelines, we will be walking as two separate groups and remain distanced at the destination.
They will need to come to school in clothing appropriate for a day outdoors including a coat, appropriate walking footwear such as trainers or walking boots, and plenty of layers in which to keep warm. They will also need to bring a rucksack to school in which they can bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. If your child normally has a school dinner, Lataca will provide a packed lunch to take with them. We would ask that the children are ready for all eventualities with the weather and be prepared for it to be muddy and slippery underfoot.
We are really looking forward to spending some time taking our classrooms outdoors for the day! If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch with either Mr Everitt or Mr Pavey, via ClassDojo.
Thank you to Green Machine Computers – The Big Tech Amnesty
We wanted to say a huge thank you to Green Machine Computers who have donated IT equipment to the school, following The Big Tech Amnesty. So many people have generously donated unused IT equipment around Wiltshire which will now be used by our pupils.
Request from Acorn/Hazel/Birch classes
We would love some junk modelling items and spare non-uniform (for forests school days), particularly jogging bottoms, please. We can then quarantine and then use for the children in KS1 (Reception, Year 1 & 2).
Message from Broad Hinton Primary School – Easter Camp
PHSports will be running an Easter camp at Broad Hinton Primary School. Please see attached for further details.
