10th June 2022
We do hope that everyone enjoyed their half term and found their own way to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Today, children in Birch and Hazel Classes have enjoyed a wonderful trip to Westonbirt Arboretum, immersing themselves in the beautiful plants and trees, bring their science learning to life. We are so thankful the weather stayed dry.
Ridgeway House Day – Friday 17th June 2022
Message from Ridgeway House Captains:
On Friday 17th June, we request that children come to school wearing the colours of the flag of Ghana (red, black, yellow and green) for the Ridgeway House Day. We would like to raise money for St Anna’s School and orphanage in Ghana, therefore a suggested donation of £2.50 can be made via Weduc or cash on the gate in the morning. More details to follow regarding the day’s activities.
After School Club – Ultimate Band
Ultimate Band afterschool club will be taking place on Fridays from 3:15pm – 4:15pm. This is bookable via Ultimate Tuition – ultimatetuitionuk@gmail.com.
No Pets on the Playground
As a reminder, pets are not to come into school grounds, please, as we have children with severe allergies to dogs and other animals.
Brass Lessons
There will be no brass lessons on Monday 20th and 27th June, therefore brass lessons (including Cherry Class) will take place on Wednesday 22nd and 29th instead.
Request: Large Old Trousers
As a reminder, on Sports day, we usually finish our flat races in Key Stage 2 with an obstacle race which culminates with the children putting on adult trousers and running to the end of the course. If you have any larger, old trousers that we could use on the day could you please send them in.
Sun Hats and Sun Cream
The weather at the start of this week has been beautifully sunny. As a reminder, children should have a named sun hat in school every day and that sun cream should be applied in the morning before school. Children can have a named bottle of sun cream in their bags (for personal use), so they can top up their sun cream, should they choose to.

Aldbourne Fun Run & Summer Fair – Saturday 18th June
Come and enjoy getting out into the beautiful countryside around Aldbourne before taking part in the school’s summer fair for the afternoon. There will be a jelly baby stop, but individuals are expected to carry their own water on this route. All abilities welcome. Buy your tickets on the PTA page of the school website. £10 for 2 adults and children, or £5 an adult.
After the fun run on the village green, from 11am will be the Summer Fair where there will be a licensed bar, food stall, tombola, cake stall, ice cream, games and fun activities for all ages. All money raised will go to the school.
If you are able to marshal, or volunteer at the fair, please email aldbournepta@gmail.com
Bottle donations needed! Everyone loves a tombola, so we will be collecting donations of bottles (anything goes) every morning at drop off next week (13th to 17th June) at the main school gates.
Cake donations – There will also be a cake stall at the fair – if you are able to bake us a little something for the stall we would be very grateful.
