What a festive week we have had as the end of term approaches! We were treated to two incredible performances of ‘The Landlord’s Cat’ for our nativity. It was wonderful to see the whole school come together to sing their hearts out! A special mention should go to our Year 2 class as the starring roles, but we are so proud of every single child, from our amazing angellic Acorns through to our Oak soloists. Yet again, it was a magical way to bring the nativity story to life, well done St Michael’s!

The children had such fun on their trip to the Newbury Corn Exchange to see Dick Whittington in panto on Wednesday and today we all had a special Christmas lunch. The children donned their hat creations and celebrated with crackers and mince pies galore! A massive shout out has to go to Miss Welch who with the help from her Willows elves cooked this year’s meal for us all, THANK YOU SAM!

We are really looking forward to our parent workshop tomorrow and hope to see as many of you there as possible, armed with craft supplies to create your Christmas mice (a reminder no glitter please!). Please head to the hall after drop off and it will finish at approx. 11.30am. Please bring a reusable cup for teas/coffees if you have one. The children are to be collected for the end of term at 1pm. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and we are looking forward to what 2025 will bring. A reminder that the children are to be back into school on Monday 6^th January.

Elder Swimming Lessons

Elder and invited Rowan and Oak swimming lessons will commence on Wednesday 8^th January, running for 10 weeks. Please see the letter sent for more information.

Performing Arts

Performing Arts after school club will be taking a break next term, we hope to see Yasmin back again after the Easter holidays.

Brass

Brass lessons will commence on Monday 6^th January.

Message from the PTA:
BURNS NIGHT – Saturday 25^th January 2024
The PTA will be hosting a Burn’s Night at 7:30pm on Saturday 25^th January, at the Memorial Hall, from 7:30pm. All proceeds will go to the school. It is a hugely fun evening. We had a full house last time, and tickets will go on sale soon via link/QR code.

Messages from St Michael’s Church

Thank you so much for those who donated money at the nativity, £134 in cash was raised, and more via card machine which will be gratefully received by the Children’s Society charity who work on behalf of children experiencing hard times.

The children will be helping to tell the story of that wonderful first Christmas on 24^th December at 3pm! There will be a run-through for anyone who would like to help with the service at 3pm on Monday 23^rd – please let Sue know if possible (541571 or revsuerodd@btinternet.com). Carols on the Green will take place at 6.30pm on Friday 20^th December.
