Children in Hazel and Birch Class learnt all about The Great Fire of Aldbourne today as our friends from the Aldbourne Heritage Group shared their love of history with them.
We learnt how and where the fire started and then followed its journey through the village across the Green to the park! We thought about how people must have felt on the day and how hard everyone worked to try and put out the fires with just buckets and utensils they could find! We finished our walk in the church to look at the wonderful Adam and Eve fire engines that were purchased by the village shortly after The Great Fire. (and of course, tried on the amazing Victorian fire helmet!)
A great day putting our learning in to action – thank you to the Aldbourne Heritage Group for giving up their time.
