A Special Visitor and Amazing DT in Elder!

We have had the best time in Elder class recently! In DT we have been focusing on pneumatics and mechanisms, and investigating where these are used day to day in the real world. Following our learning, we were given our design brief… to design and create a toy to entertain a small child using pneumatics, pretty cool, hey? We couldn’t wait to get started!

We have created prototypes of our final product, discovering what works well, and what needs improving ahead of the final construction.

In English, we have been studying the short animation “lighthouse”. This is a story based on a man living in a lighthouse, who ends up in a bit of a muddle. By having no dialogue in the animation, we have allowed our imaginations to flourish and see the story, emotions and actions in our own interpretation. Today we were extremely lucky to have the lighthouse keeper himself, Derek, come into Elder class and answer all our budding questions we had written down for him!
