6th September 2019
Welcome to the start of the school year. We are excited with our Rainscape Garden outside Years 1 and 2 and would like to thank all our volunteers who gave up their time to help with this amazing project. Unfortunately over the summer a survey revealed that we need to carry out some structural work on the Reception outdoor area. While we are waiting for this work to take place we have had to fence off this area to ensure that everybody is safe.
We say a very warm welcome to all our new children and their families who have joined St. Michael’s and hope you will all be very happy.
Message for our new reception parents and children: The children have had an amazing week and have all made a great start to school. Next week the children will stay for lunch. On Friday we are having our first House Day and the children can come dressed in the colour of their house (This can simply be a hair ribbon, pair of socks, t shirt or head to toe!) The children can stay for the whole day on Friday. Please can all children have a pair of named wellies and trainers to stay in school, and a book bag and coat with them every day.
Please find the information for what is happening in school over the next week overleaf. The diary dates for the rest of the term will be included in next week’s post.
Welcome back Coffee Morning for parents and volunteers: Mrs Arkwright would like to invite you to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee after school drop off at 9am in the school hall on Wednesday 11th September. This is an opportunity to chat with friends, meet new parents as well as finding out how you can support the school, whether it’s being a member of the PTA or volunteering in school, pre-school age children are welcome.
Car Parking: We do appreciate parking is difficult but please can you park carefully in the village and avoid parking in St Michael’s Close and Back Lane or blocking access at the bottom of Back Lane. Please refrain from driving up to the school at drop off and collection times.
Severe allergic reactions: We have a number of children in school who have a severe allergic reaction to eggs and nuts. Please can we ask you to refrain from putting any nuts or eggs, including egg sandwiches, quiche or scotch eggs in children’s lunch boxes. Thank you.
Homework: Next week a letter will be sent out about our new homework system.
