Celebration Assembly – 9:00am 15th October 2021
Next week’s Celebration Assembly will take place at the earlier time of 9:00am. This will allow time for the setup of the Art Exhibition that has been organised by our governors, to raise funds for the school. They very much welcome the local community to come along to enjoy work by local artists.
Buddy Service – 2:00pm 12th October 2021
Acorn and Oak Class parents/carers are invited to join the Buddy Service in St Michael’s Church on Tuesday at 2:00pm. The service will officially welcome the Acorn Class to the School family. If you would like to attend, please let the class teacher know via Weduc.
Parents Evenings – Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th October
Parents evenings will take place next week on 12th and 13th October and are bookable via Weduc. Hopefully you have all found it straight forward to book an appointment, if however you are experiencing any problems please let the school office know – admin@stmichaelsaldbourne.co.uk.
St Michael’s School Council Elections
In the week before half term, we will be voting for our new school councillors. Two children in each class from Years 3 – 6, who were not councillors last year, will be chosen in a class vote. If children wish to be considered for election they will need to prepare something which will help convince the class why they would be a good choice. It could be a simple speech, a poster, a leaflet a video or even a PowerPoint!
We will be working on our links with the Nursing Home and, as always, looking for ways to improve the school environment. So, children should keep these in mind when creating their manifesto which needs to be ready for Monday 18th October.
Harvest Festival
Once again we are joining with the church to support Swindon Food Bank this harvest. Children are invited to bring tins or dried products and leave them in collection boxes at the school gates as their harvest gift. Last year our community gave so generously and we would love to be able to do the same this year. We are celebrating harvest at school on Wednesday 20th October in St Michael’s Church – Parents are very welcome to join us!
Messages from the PTA
Bag2school – Please have a rummage around your homes for spare clothes, bags, shoes, soft toys that can be donated and earn the school some money. This year unfortunately donation bags are unavailable but Bag2School have provided further detail on how and what can be donated on the attached sheet. Please bring your donations to school by 9am on Tuesday 30th November 2021 and drop them off by the front gate. Unfortunately we are unable to store any bags before the collection date. The more we give, the more money is raised for the school.
Welly Walk – Our annual Welly Walk will take place on Wednesday 20th October 2021. Further detail including information about sponsorship is attached.
