St. Michael’s Weekly Post – 8th July 2022

We were so fortunate to enjoy a whole school trip to Ramsbury Estate yesterday. The children had a wonderful time exploring, fossil and bug hunting, drawing and much more. The weather was perfect and we were so lucky to have such great opportunity at no cost. Thank you Ramsbury Estate for your generosity.

Today, Cherry and Elder Class have had another day out in nature.  They have had great trip to the River Kennet and learnt more about its inhabitants.

School Performance – Cinderella Rockerfella

Key Stage 2 are currently preparing for their performance of Cinderella Rockerfella that will take place on Monday 18th July at 2pm and 6pm and Tuesday 19^th July at 6pm.  Tickets are available for Key Stage 2 families (2 seats per family, at the moment) via Weduc. All Key Stage 2 children are involved in this performance and will need to be in school ready for the evening performance at 5:15pm on both the Monday and Tuesday.  They will get into their costumes whilst in school. We are looking forward to their performance.

September – 8:45am School Day Starts

We will be starting our school day 5 minutes earlier, from September onwards.  The school gates will open at 8:35am, ready to start the school day at 8:45am.  This is following the recent Government announcement regarding a compulsory 32.5 hour school week.

Driving and Cycling in the Village

It is wonderful to see that many children are arriving to school and travelling around the village by bikes and scooters.  Please remind children of the importance of wearing a helmet and really looking for cars when crossing the road, now more so than ever, given electric cars can be very quiet. Unfortunately, we have had several messages about children not cycling safely around the village.

Can we please also remind everyone to park considerately at drop off and collection and be confident an emergency vehicle can get through, should they need to.

Sport Enrichment Days – Wednesday 20th & Thursday 21st July

As a reminder, in the last week of term, we have two Sport Enrichment Days, when the children will experience a range of sports, led by visiting coaches. All children are to come to school in PE kit on both days. There will be a charge of £5 for this event to cover the cost of the external coaches. Please support us by paying £5 via Weduc.

Active uniform

This year’s active uniform trial has proven to be a success and we intend to continue with it moving forward, alongside our more formal uniform.  Details on our active uniform can be found on our website.  We would particularly like to highlight that trainers should be completely black and sports trousers are to be plain, navy or black, with no branding visible.

Messages from the PTA

Lolly Friday – Lollies will be on sale on the playground this afternoon between 3:15pm and 3:30pm. Come and buy a lolly to enjoy in the sun.
