1st July 2022
Today children have enjoyed settling in sessions with their new class teachers, in preparation for September. There was a lot of excitement throughout the school.
Earlier in the week, a number of Key Stage 2 children attended a mini marathon event at St Katherine’s School, in Marlborough. The team represented St Michael’s beautifully, demonstrating their great sportsmanship. Our team from Rowan and Oak Class won their race, well done!
Our talented musicians performed in our concert in the Church. It was wonderful to see how much progress the children have made, particularly those in Cherry Class who had not played an instrument before this year. The concert culminated with an uplifting performance by Rowan Class of “Titanium”.
Whole School Ramsbury Trip
On Thursday the whole school will be off on a trip to Ramsbury Estate to immerse themselves in nature. The trip will take place during the normal school day and there is no cost to the trip. We would like to thank the Ramsbury estate for hosting us and for supplying the transport.
On the day, children are to wear forest school clothes and it’s important that all children wear long sleeve tops and long trousers. This is to prevent tick bites. Please apply sun cream ahead of the trip. Children are to bring with them the following:
-Water Bottle – Waterproof coat – Sun hat – A small rucksack to carry their lunch
Children will be wearing their welly boots they have in school but if they have walking boots at home, they would be welcome to wear them if they choose to. Children will require a packed lunch, but if children normally have school lunches Lataca will supply the packed lunch.
Sport Enrichment Days – Wednesday 20th & Thursday 21st July
In the last week of term, we have two Sport Enrichment Days, when the children will experience a range of sports, led by visiting coaches. All children are to come to school in PE kit on both days. There will be a charge of £5 for this event to cover the cost of the external coaches. Please support us by paying £5 via Weduc.
Active uniform
This year’s active uniform trial has proven to be a success and we intend to continue with it moving forward, alongside our more formal uniform. Details on our active uniform can be found on our website. We would particularly like to highlight that trainers should be completely black and sports trousers are to be plain, navy or black, with no branding visible.
Outstanding Trip Payments
As a reminder, can we please ask everyone to check their Weduc payments and settle any outstanding amounts. Thank you to those of you who have already done so.
Fund Raising
Mason in Acorn Class was so inspired by the Ridgeway House Day, which raised money for St Anna’s School and Orphanage in Ghana, he wanted to support the fund raising further. He undertook a sponsored walk, pushing his newborn brother in his pushchair, whilst wearing a cast on his arm, around his local park over the course of the weekend, completing 2,000 steps. Mason raised an additional £43 towards St Anna’s School.
Congratulations
Jessica in Oak Class has been selected to represent Great Britain for Artistic Roller-skating and will be competing somewhere in Europe later this year. Congratulations Jessica.
