15th October 2021
Following on from this morning’s letter regarding COVID-19, we continue to be conscious of our activities and processes in school. We therefore feel in the current climate we will need to cancel our planned Harvest festival in the church and children will celebrate the harvest in their class rooms with their teachers. Please continue to bring foodbank gifts as we will be celebrating harvest in school.
We also will be moving back to collections at the below gates, rather than the playground, starting this afternoon.
- Reception, Year 1 and 2 and their older siblings use St Michael’s Close
- Year 3, 4, and 5 use the main entrance
- Year 6 the slope to the Old School Room
We would like to thank you for your continued support.
Welly Walk
We plan to go ahead with our welly walk in the fresh air on Wednesday afternoon, in a similar fashion to last year, with children walking in their class group. However, we will of course continue to review this situation. There is still plenty of time for children to get fundraising. This can be via the sponsorship forms previously sent out or through our Virgin Money Giving website so that we can claim 25% extra money in Gift Aid. To fundraise in this way log into https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/giving/ > Fundraisers> Create a page> sign up or log in to do a Welly Walk> Tell it you’re doing “something else” on 20th October 2021> search for our charity, this is: St Michael’s Aldbourne PTA.
Flu Vaccination
If you haven’t already done so, please give your consent/decline consent for your child to receive the nasal flu vaccination by completing the online form by midnight on Monday 8th November, at the very latest – https://schoolimms.virgincare.co.uk/flu/2021/wilts. If you have any queries, please see the FAQs on the link or contact the team directly on 0300 247 0082. Vaccinations are planned to take place in school on Tuesday 16th November 2021.
Oak Class – Secondary School Application Deadline – 31st October 2021
As a reminder, secondary school applications are due to be submitted via your council’s website by midnight on 31st October 2021.
Food Allergies
As a reminder, we have children with severe allergies in school, we therefore ask that if your child brings a packed lunch they do not include eggs or nuts.
St Michael’s School Council Elections
There is still time for manifesto submissions ready for next week’s vote for our new school councillors. Two children in each class from Years 3 – 6, who were not councillors last year, will be chosen in a class vote. If children wish to be considered for election they will need to prepare something which will help convince the class why they would be a good choice. It could be a simple speech, a poster, a leaflet a video or even a PowerPoint!
We will be working on our links with the Nursing Home and, as always, looking for ways to improve the school environment. So, children should keep these in mind when creating their manifesto which needs to be ready for Monday 18th October.
Messages from the PTA
PTA Volunteers needed – Thank you to all those who volunteered their time to come to the PTA Meeting in person or online on Monday evening, minutes attached. If there is anyone else out there who would like to be involved please let us know! Is there anyone out there who’d like to help make a Christmas Fair happen? If not, the kids are going to have to go without this year. Thanks in advance!
Bag2school – Please have a rummage around your homes for spare clothes, bags, shoes, soft toys that can be donated and earn the school some money. Bag2School will be providing bags this year which can be collected from the school gates in the new term. Please bring your donations to school by 9am on Tuesday 30th November 2021 and drop them off by the front gate. Unfortunately, we are unable to store any bags before the collection date. The more we give, the more money is raised for the school.
Communications Survey – Following the launch of the Weduc app, we are now carrying out a review of school communications to ensure we are communicating effectively with all parents and carers. If you did not complete the survey at the Parents Evenings we would appreciate you providing your feedback on this link – https://forms.gle/sWW1pZiZaUcjVjVZ7.
